Darko can do some crazy stuff on the whim and on Thursday he emails me to see if I'd be willing to fly to Cleveland for the Pistons game. The offer was just buy a plane ticket to the city known as the "mistake by the lake," and he'll pay for the rest: 2nd row tix behind Pistons bench, hotel and car rental. After a cursory look online for plane tix, I couldn't get myself to pay $285 for a RT tix to Cleveland. Then again, I may have done it if it were another weekend. I'm recuperating from a miserable week at work and I had to work on Saturday. Also, I gotta catch up on some personal stuff because I'm off to SF and LA on Tuesday for the rest of the week. Another friend named Dollar ended up going with Darko. Throughout the day I got txt messages of what I was missing. First, Darko sat next to Kenny "Jet" Smith, the co-host of the TNT pregame and halftime show with Charles Barkley. Kenny flew coach and I was surprised that TNT wouldn't give him the first class or biz class seat. A couple hours later I get a txt that he's in a random mall and bumped into Mike Tirico, the ESPN radio announcer for the playoffs; he's also a Pistons fan. Finally, at the game, Usher walks by and he also sees TO, Kid Rock and a host of other celebs. Seems like the people watching was more of a highlight for Darko since his Pistons lost in the end. Which reminds me....

The last time Darko did a last minute trip to a Pistons playoff game, it was game 7 and he was once again 2nd row from the floor. That was the game in which the Spurs became world champs.
Notice the pattern? Darko flies to game and the opposing team closes out the series. Tough luck or coincidence? Sorry man.
