Last year I went to Sin City multiple times because I simply needed to get away from NYC and to escape problems. This week I went to Vegas for the first time this year and it was simply to take a break from work. Vegas was exhausting and really didn't give me a breather. I arrived on Wed afternoon and worked a bit in the hotel room. In the evening we gambled a little. Work has been very stressful as of late because a bolus of stuff dropped on my lap. Work is constantly on my mind lately and it's not going to let up either. It's going to be a long hard summer for me.
There was a big conference in Vegas last week and a couple of friends happened to be in town so we met up for drinks at the Shadow Bar in Caesars. It's a bar that has girls dancing behind a screen so you see a silhouette of their very shapely bodies. One of my friends told me that someone from my company was speaking on Thurs AM, so being the good worker bee, I woke up early on my first official day off from work and attended the early AM lecture. Afterwards I jumped into the pool for about an hour. Then it was off for my first round of golf at Las Vegas National. It' an old golf course that's not as nice as the newer luxurious courses that surround Vegas, but it was local and good start to the week. After finishing the 12th hole, I was walking towards my cart and thats when I saw an entourage of golf carts approaching. As I squinted my eyes in the bright sunshine, it became crystal clear that it was The Donald. That's right, Donald Trump was in the lead golf cart decked out in his customary dark suit in the 90 degree heat. I'm guessing he was doing due diligence on the course to purchase it. Makes sense because his new tower is nearby and he probably wants to have an exclusive course for the Trump members. It would also compete with Wynn's concept of having his own course adjacent to the Wynn casino. As he drove by, you could also tell it was Trump from behind because his hair is so unique.
Later that evening, we gambled some more and ended up talking to a Korean dealer who had only been in the states for 7 years. She was actually hilarious. Hummer arrived later that evening and joined Darko, V and myself. We played golf the next two days with lessons in the AM and gambling at night.
I would blog more but I'm so exhausted from Vegas. It's really not a vacation because you're constantly on the moving or thinking. Unless you do the bunny ranch.
