Today the lead article in the Wall Street Journal is about "Why Korea makes the world's best women golfers." On occassion, the national papers -- NY Times, WSJ, etc. -- pick an esoteric quality or hapless event about Koreans. This short article represents Korean parents to be similar to NBA basketball players in the states: giving up careers and devoting much of their resources on their daughter as their way to riches and fame.
What's astounding is that 1/4 of the elite category of players on the LPGA are Koreans! A decade ago there were no Koreans on the LPGA tour.
