Mondays are rough because I'm usually recovering from the weekend and the new week starts up with everything becoming a priority. Last night I maximized the day and ended up closing down a bar on a Monday evening. It's gonna be a looooooong week because I had one to many. Whatever happened to the days of no drinking? I guess a tiger can't change his stripes. I did discover last night, among the pretentious hot spots of the meatpacking district, a gem of a wine bar. It's tucked away and so hidden, that I couldn't find the place for 5 minutes. I went to a 2 hr wine tasting with a sommelier guiding us through various wines. It's the first time I've ever done a wine tasting with a sommelier. It was very educational, but I don't remember much after the first 20 minutes. I poured out the ones that I didn't fancy, because you have to pace yourself; otw, you'll be drunk very soon. This whole scene reminded me of the movie Sideways. I've drank wine for the longest time but I've never been a student of it so I can't tell you which vintage is my favorite, nor can I go up to a bar and say, do you happen to have this or that. I should I guess, b/c they say only gentlemen know their wines. I felt like I snorted out the smell of every wine glass. By the end, I was actually articulating the differences between the various vintages.
