This past weekend I participated in the Revlon Run/Walk for Women. Getting up early on a Saturday was a little tough but it was well worth it and fun because about 21 other friends forged together and raised a few thousand dollars for the cause against cancer. I had intended to walk the 5k but as it got closer to "go" time, someone decided that a few of us should run the 5k. I guess I got caught up in the excitement being among 40,000 people. Off we ran and it wasn't to bad running a 5k. It was a beautiful day on Saturday. After we all regathered somewhere in Central Park, we camped down for some lunch and I just laid on a grassy knoll looking up at the clear blue sky. That was pretty peaceful just chillin in Central Park. Everything happened so quickly that by the time I realized everything had been accomplished, it was barely 10am.
What was sad but inspiring were the many people (mainly women), who attached to their shirts a name of someone who they were running for. Just when I was tiring out, I would look up and see someone's name who probably suffered or died from cancer and then I would kick it in again.
