What if ...

Last night I met up with two different friends who reside in Chicago. After having dinner with the first, I had drinks with the other at my hotel. We have somehow kept in touch the last 7 years and she luvs to say that "____ was my first!" when she introduces me to her friends. What she means is that I was her first hire as a recruiter. The reason I'm in NYC can be attributed to her recruiting diligence back in early 2000. The rest is history. Interestingly, she's also the one who recruited me for my current job. She's somehow been instrumental in my NYC work life and she's witnessed both the worst of times and best of times. As Darko likes to remind me, it was rags to riches. I think to myself, what would've happened if she never called me for the first time about a particular job? I could still be in Philly today because I didn't want to go to NYC. And what if, years later, she had not submmitted my resume to the right person for today's job. She reminded me that she was involved in getting me jobs at the worst and best places to work. Do you believe in providence?
