On the road again. Just can't wait to get on the road again. The life I love is makin' music with my friends. And I can't wait to get on the road again. By Willie Nelson
I board the plane today for the first time since early December. It was so nice not to get on a plane because it felt like I was on one every week last year. At least it starts slowly with a trip to Chicago, which isn't to bad other than the cold weather. I've been to Chicago many of times and yet, my one lasting memory is standing in front of my cousin's dormroom at U of Chicago, which happens to face Lake Michigan. The arctic air blew into my face with a stiff breeze and I said to myself, if this is Hell then it froze over. Last year was a lot of work and leisure travel mixed in because I just wanted to get away. Many of my leisure trips ended up in sin city: 8 times to be exact. I counted up all my losses and expenses from Vegas and it tallys up to 5 digits. Damn! I had so many unnecessary costs last year, including Vegas. I should add the resolution to not go to Vegas in 2007.
The best feeling from traveling is when I get home and finally get to sleep in my bed. I sleep in a queen size bed and though the mattress is over 3 years old, it still has a lot of spring to it. Then again, there wasn't much use of that bed this past year. I have slept in some pretty good hotel beds like the Mandarin, Ritz Carlton and my favorite hotel chain, Starwoods (Westin, W, etc.), but nothing beats my bed. I really liked the Ritz pillows so I found out the manufacturer and ordered a couple from them. I must've gotten the wrong type because everytime I go to the Ritz, I feel like thir pillows are still better. Maybe the maids do a better job of puffing them up.
