Ahhh, LA LA land. The home of Hollywood and a lot of fake boobs. The west coast has always intrigued me, and I do enjoy the laid back nature of the environment but there are a lot of flakes out here. I’ve been to LA 5x this year and I always enjoy it but I’m always ready to get back to NYC. Back in February, Darko and I decided to have a guys weekend in LA so we bought last minute tix (on jetBlue) and headed west. When we had arrived, we went straight to Ktown to taste the best Korean food in the world; perhaps better than Korea itself. Afterwards, we drove our bright red mustang convertible – I have no idea why Darko rented a Mustang. He’s from the Midwest so it must be the Americano inside of him. We checked into the W in Westwood and hung out in the lounge just drinking and staring at the pretty people trolling around. What I didn’t understand about the W is that they rope off the entire front entrance without distinction between the hotel entrance or lounge entrance. Around midnight we asked the concierge where we can have some fun and after a few quick suggestions, we directed ourselves towards the Sunset Strip. Darko tipped the guy $10 for doing his job. Sometimes Darko has too much money and doesn’t know what to do with his money, like buying a few $5K suits. So off we went to Sunset but instead we bypassed it and headed straight for Ktown again to hit the clubs. Too bad we’re unfamiliar with clubbing in Ktown because we didn’t have a host nor did we have reservations. We instead landed at some random lounge.
The next day was a true guy’s Saturday. We joined up with a couple of friends who live in LA and played 18 holes of golf on a brilliant sunny day. My friend Huge kept talking trash all week about how he and his bud was going to beat Darko and me. We were all square after 9, but we did a Maurice Green on him and smoked them on the back 9. Afterwards, we headed to Staples stadium to go watch Darko’s favorite team, the Detroit Pistons lose to the Lakers. Darko always gets great tix. We sat 5 rows from the floor behind Jack Nicholson, and of course we were on TV waving our arms like idiots as we phoned our friends. We also saw Denzel and a few other celebs across the court. Everytime I go to LA, I try to get a round of 18 in but not enough time this time around since I’m redirecting to Las Vegas soon after my meeting tomorrow.
