For my many friends who've stayed in tune with me through this blog and to those unknown to me but faithfully read this blog, thanks for keeping in touch. I hope my writing, though not the most eloquent, kept you entertained. I'm not writing for a Pulitzer, but to create a window into the "goings on" so we can keep in touch.
As I look back at 2007, it was one heckuva year. A lot of great stuff happened and I'm appreciate of it. It was a year of transition where I purged the old and accepted my blemishes. Someone asked me this past weekend, are you different now? I responded with an absolute "yes." I am significantly different, and it's because I'm beaten but still standing. I've also accepted the fact that I'm getting older faster and that my views are becoming finite. This is good because I'm compelled to be more diligent. I feel less pressure today than I was in my twenties. Perhaps it's because I'm actually more comfortable with my skin and who I am. I guess that's what happens when you accept the fact that I'm on the other side of the perfection spectrum.
So here are some highlights off the top of my head. I'm sure there are other things that would be considered highlights, but here's what I remember right now.
- Got on NBC's Today Show
- Front cover of a magazine
- Played the 2 best golf course I've ever played: Whistling Straits and Kapalua in Hawai'i
- Celebrated my niece's first birthday
- Red carpet treatment at Les Caves Du Roy in St. Tropez
- Sitting next to Elton John at lunch in Hotel Byblos
- Seeing Beyonce 2x in one year
- Floor tickets to the Knick's game, though I would've preferred the Lakers or Sixers
- Meeting Michael Lewis, Laurie David, John Hodgman, Elizabeth Gilbert, Tom Perkins
- 2 Job Promotions
- Surfing in Hawai'i and watching Ed and Joyce get married there
- Conerts and seeing: Justin Timberlake 2x, The Police 2x
- Vegas....... and you know how that story ends. It never changes.
- Finally, seeing my dad walk without a cane. That IS the greatest highlight of 2007.
