Since Il Mulino reminded me of Goodfellas and Ray Liotta, I'd like to share my ex-roomies story about Liotta. Back in the day when I was living in the way upper east side, my ex-roomie happen to be an actual movie producer for a legit movie studio. Sammy was out at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City Utah, doing his due dilly on some up and coming directors and films. At one of the many parties during the festival, Ray Liotta comes up to him and says, are you "Sammy from _______." After acknowledging he was Sammy, Mr. Liotta began to discuss his pet project with the hopes that Sammy and his company would consider picking it up. Sounds simple, but what was interesting was that one of Sammy's favorite flicks is Goodfellas, and therefore worships Liotta and DeNiro. So here was Liotta seeking out Sammy to discuss a film, and there he was almost shaking in front of one of his favorite actors. He maintains that he kept his cool. While Liotta is detailing the script, a handful of girls are ogling over Liotta, disrupting the conversation. Well, the script was never picked up but for my friend Sammy, this was one of his greatest experiences. Today he's in Hollywood trying to pitch his own indie flick. I wish him luck because it's a cruel place.
