Madison Square Garden. Michael Jordan's favorite arena to play in. Also called by Americans (& ESPN) the "greatest arena in sports". So for the first time ever I sat on the floor, or I should honestly say the 2nd row but the floor nonetheless, under the basket, behind James Dolan (CEO/Prez of Cablevision and MSG) and next to the Knicks bench. You know you're real close when the ball rolls to you and you pick up the basketball and hand it to Stephan Marberry. Apparently Malik Rose tried to throw me the ball as a nice gesture but I wasn't looking. Being so close I could actually hear the Knick's coach Isiah Thomas shout out to the refs, "you guys are calling different games" and "take the fucking charge". Based on my simple observations, I don't think he's really coaching. At least Eddie Jordan of the Bullets was off the bench half the time and shouting out plays and instructing his players. What do I know because the inactive coach won the game in the end. Since we had a waiter down there, I proceeded to stuff my face with alcohol because that's all I do now, drink myself to misery and eat. Even though I was down on the floor and sitting a few seats from Ahmad Rashad -- oh, Charles Oakley and Mark Messier were also sitting on the floor -- I wasn't too interested in the game because I've been very distracted by my current personal issues. Then again, I have ZERO rooting interest for either the Knicks or the Bullets (AKA Wizards) since they bookend Philly and these two towns are usually the arch nemesis for Philly sports teams. I'm sure these seats were over $1k but I don't really care. I needed a good distraction from my personal life which is in aweful shape. I've had the roughest year of my life and the year is ending like it started, relationships in disrepair. What the hell happened?! Maybe I was emotionally unready to figure things out.
