I've only seen one major film exported from Korea - Shiri. I'm a fan of Yunjin Kim because she's a pretty good thesbian and has made some inroads for korean descent actresses with her continuing role of the suppressed korean wife on Lost. She technically has the first kiss with another asian male (Daniel Dae Kim) on american television. Season 1 was great and addictive, but it's since lost it's GPS and become schizo. Too bad because it had a great start to being an incredible series with original writing and cinematic direction.
Anyway, I've never had a strong interest in big budget pictures from the motherland, but I am considering going to the NY Korean Film Festival in a couple weeks. It's being held from 8/25 - 9/3.

I love the Korean Film Festival---sadly, one of the few times I try to represent being Korean. A true New York tradition.
