At Whistling Straits, the course is referred to as the "Straits." There is nothing straight about that course: it's truly a beauty and a beast. It's definitely one of the premiere courses in America (#24 in Golf Magazine) because it's not only breathtaking off of Lake Michigan, but there's also no easy hole or shot.

I came up short in my bid to beat Darko for the week after 4 grueling rounds. I have a greater respect for the PGA players for their endurance. I entered 7 shots back, and after the first hole I was 9 shots back because of an opening hole double bogey. Not a good way to start when you're already down. I crawled my way back to within ONE shot by hole #12. Then it all fell apart when my caddie informed me that my sand wedge was missing and I had to hit out of a very deep pot bunker with a lob wedge. I gave it all I could with a lob wedge and the ball trickled back down into the pot bunker, just like my score faded backwards. I'm not going to blame the caddie for this snafu, but I was miffed. In the end, the 9 shot lead after the first day was to much to overcome, even for Tiger. Which reminds me: Darko pulled out his red shirt on the fourth and final day to remind Hummer and I that he was Tiger. lol with me people.
