Usually I'm pretty good at sensing who likes me or not but last night reminded me that my radar can be way off. There's a young lady at work who I've had happy hours with here and there, and last night was another one of them at The Living Room, a lounge in the LES where up and coming musical acts perform. For the last few weeks, I assumed Christine was either very touchy feely or just into me. After we had gotten toasty, the conversation turned to work gossip and who's the new IT girl of the week. Please note that this conversation was among 5 ladies, myself, and one other male coworker, and the topics were driven by the ladies. Back to story. The latest IT girl became a heated discussion among the women, and my male coworker and I tried staying out of that discussion, but they turned to us for our male opinions. Christine pressed me about my opinion, and it was during this exchange that someone said, "you don't know about Christine?" Laughter ensued as it became apparent I had no idea what they meant by that question. Christine leans into me and says, "I'm lesbian. That's why I'm so into (insert IT girl name here)." And I replied, "be my guest because I'm not interested."
