Gosh I can be such a F%$in idiot! When I go to work functions I always drink and it's par for the course. I never get blitzed and embarrass myself but alcohol will compromise my judgement in many ways. So a while ago I got along with a female client of ours and asked her for some club or lounge suggestions for my upcoming bday. I had heard she was a big clubber and so to keep the convo interesting I talked about her single passion, clubbing and the clubs she likes. So after getting a few good suggestions from her, she asked if I was going to invite her to my bday shindig because she "helped" me out. In that awkward moment I nervously said sure. Fast forward a month later and I bump into her again at my company premesis because she's visiting the team that services her. We exchange the basic professional pleasantries and quickly she asks when my bday is and where I decided to hold my soiree. Then she reminded me that I was supposed to invite her and that she had not seen the evite yet. Oh dear. So I said I forgot and that I would send her an evite. As predicted she says yes and I'm hoping thats the end of this story until the big day. Well, my coworker who works on the account comes over to tell me that she had gotten off her weekly status call with the client which consists of 6 people on the other end of the line. At the very end when she was wrapping things up, the invited guest asked my coworker in front of everyone else on the conf call, "one final thing, are you going to _______ bday?" So my coworker runs over to me after her call and says to me, "you better put out" because I'm not going to allow this account to be undermined by you not satisfying this girl. Oh geeeeez! I ain't putting out b/c I ain't no HO. Even if this girl is (in the words of my coworker) "horny and a slam dunk" I ain't doing anything. Period! However, I wonder if I can expense this birthday since a client and other people in her group may show up? Hmmmmmmm.
