During my travels I always notice how big america is and the movie "supersize me" was so prescient about the disasterous health crisis that exists and that grows today. Maybe the food portions are smaller in NYC? Maybe it's all the walking around we have to do? Maybe New Yorkers are more inclined to exercise with the plethora of gyms on Manhattan or because of the superficial influence of NYC. I dunno. But what I do know is that america is HUGE and the portions are equally as big. When I wasn't chasing a little golf ball around the well manicured fairways(and rough) of Myrtle Beach, I was in gluttonous pursuit of comfort food. I had my very first meal at the Cracker Barrel. It was an amalgamation of greasy food: green beans, mashed potatos w/ gravy, country fried steak w/ gravy and mac & cheese. When I looked around, I saw a lot of very large people. I can't fault them for their obesity because large portions and fattening food is the norm in Nascar nation.
Outside of that observation, I did feel like a celebrity because people stared at me and my asian invasion entourage wherever we went. The only difference is that no one asked for my autograph, but there was a lot of long stares. It's like they had never seen an asian person or an assembly of asians.

don't be a snob nyckorean! cuz you know that cracker barrel is the rocks (in particular, their catfish platter) ... as is waffle house, another fine institution w/ multiple locations along interstate 95!
Hahaha I can totally picture the scene!!! But you know what? If Americans are fat it's just because they eat A LOT of shitty food! And whose fault is that!
Granted, it tastes good when you're in the mood for it.
But since i've been living in Korea, I have cravings for Kimchi (yeah I know) and kimchi jiggae. It's just all about habits I guess. Koreans are so thin.
But then again, a lot of girls barely eat because of social pressure. There's this urban myth that men only want to marry skinny girls. And since marriage is the only way out of your parents house in this country....
Don't you miss those delicious Kalbi and bulgogi?
I haven't tried the dry squids yet though.... ;)
