You don't have to live in NYC to know one of the oldest korean bars in the city. The 3rd Floor Cafe has been around long before I arrived on 32nd Street. This past week my coworker who is also Korean and proud of it -- a former KSA president of a large west coast college -- wanted to Koreanize our fellow caucasian coworkers. I wasn't up to the task but he was persistent so I went along with the program. To my surprise, there was a $12 all you can drink special on Tuesday night, though it's the house wine being served which is risky if you're prone to migraines. We opted for a bottle of pinot grigio and my korean coworker ordered several rounds of strawberry soju to introduce our caucasian cohorts to the famed korean juice. After numerous shots, I was already getting a hangover an hour later. We of course tried the chicken and the anju. I'm glad we brought a little bit of Korea to our coworkers as their eyes certainly opened up to a new culture. Besides, after a few shots of soju you don't even realize you're in a korean bar.

Tuesday all you can eat/drink is now $14 (as of Nov '07)! BTW, I hope the waitresses didn't give your caucasian friends "asian fetish". I find the waitresses here extremely hot, very cute (and they don't even need to dress like a whore ala Hooters - just natural beauty and elegance). :) Regardless, the service is excellent. As a Chinese American, I often feel out of place when I goto a n Korean or Japanese restaurant. However, I do not feel any awkwardness here. I feel warm and welcomed. Highly recommended.
I went last month (2/09)and it's $19 for happy hour. I'm about to go now I hope they didn't raise the price in the last month.
